Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth National Park, nestled in the heart of Uganda, is a sanctuary of rich biodiversity and fascinating landscapes. Stretching over 1,978 square kilometres, this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve serves as a bridge between the dense forests of the west and the savannahs of the east.
The park is named in honour of Queen Elizabeth II and is one of Africa's premier wildlife sanctuaries. It is situated in the Albertine Rift Valley and is bordered by Lake George to the northeast and Lake Edward to the southwest. Its location makes it a prime habitat for a wide variety of wildlife, as well as a vital corridor for migratory birds.
The highlights of Queen Elizabeth National Park include the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha, the spectacular Kazinga Channel that connects both Lake George and Lake Edward, and the panoramic vistas of the Rwenzori Mountains, which are commonly referred to as the "Mountains of the Moon."

The park is open throughout the year, but the Best Time to Visit Queen Elizabeth National Park is during the dry seasons, from December to February and June to August. During these periods, wildlife is easier to spot as animals gather around water sources, and the roads are more passable. The dry season is also ideal for bird watching as migratory birds visit the park.
However, if you're interested in chimpanzee tracking, the wet seasons (March to May and September to November) are preferable as chimpanzees are easier to locate.
