Malindi is an idyllic seaside town that is deeply rooted in a colorful history that began in 1498 when Vasco de Gama first visited the location. From the winding streets to the centuries-old houses, you will see the story of Malindi unfold before your eyes. One of the most prominent landmarks on the tour of Malindi is the Church of St. Francis Xavier, one of the oldest in East Africa that is situated near the Vasco de Gama Pillar. Visitors can enjoy the white sandy beaches, snorkeling, water skiing, windsurfing and glass bottomed boat tours.
Itinerary (Day Tour Excursion)
Malindi is a town situated in the coastal region of Kenya; Africa and is famous for icons like Vasco da Gama Pillar and Gedi Ruins. Africa Safariland Tours guide picks you up from your coast hotel very early in the morning and drive you to Malindi. Start your day vising the Gedi ruins in the southern part of Malindi. Later, get through old palaces, mosques that were built using sand in the early 15th Century. You will also have chance to visit the Museum with ancient porcelain, Persian glass among other ancient hardware. You also have an option to visit Snake farm with collections of different species of snakes from the eastern part of Africa. You later drive back to your hotel in the evening. Lunch is provided during midday.
