Our 4 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking and canopy walk safari is an adventure tour where on the same safari you have an opportunity to trek the rare chimpanzees. You will visit the Genocide Museum en route to the park or after your Gorilla Trek on the last day. You'll get to spend a day each with the mountain gorillas of Volcanoes National Park and the chimpanzees of Nyungwe National Park.

Itinerary Details

  1

  Arrival and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

  You will be picked up by our safari guide from Kigali International Airport, then drive to Nyungwe National Park in South Western Rwanda where you will spend two nights. This journey is about 4-5 hours’ drive but very enjoyable as you will be driving through various local communities and towns along the road, the drive as well takes you through the beautiful cascading and rolling lush hills of commonly tagged Switzerland of Africa.

  2

  Chimpanzee Tracking

  After early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for registration and join others for the chimpanzee trekking briefing about the dos and don’ts during your Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking Tour. During your trek, you will have a chance to encounter other wildlife including, various bird species and tree species which your guide give you information about to make the trek enjoyable. This is indeed an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful closest cousins to humans as they play in Nyungwe forest national park.

  3

  Nyungwe Forest Canopy Walk and Hike

  After your breakfast at the lodge, you will go for a canopy walk and hike. This canopy walk is also the first tree-top forest canopy walk in East Africa and the third in all of Africa. This canopy walk is 50 meters above the ground and this can also be a dizzying height for some people, you will see the monkeys move around in the treetops, the birds that are flying above you and below you, and a beautiful view of the huge Nyungwe forest.

  Back to Kigali – Departure

  After your breakfast, you will be driven to Kigali to your post-tour accommodation facility or you may choose to fly out of Rwanda altogether. You will use the same tour route as when you came through.
